About Us
Traumatology Services International (TSI) is a trauma-dedicated organization specializing in all aspects of trauma. It provides a range of professional services in this regard. It is a Closed Corporation and has been in existence since 1999.
It, together with the International Institute of Traumatology & Crisis Intervention (IITCI), (a Section 21 Company founded in SA) has pioneered the introduction of traumatology into South and Southern Africa. The Institute is a professional body, which propagates professionalism in traumatology in its various aspects.
TSI has forged international links with a number of recognised trauma organizations to ensure that it has access to trends and developments in the field of trauma intervention techniques, approaches and treatment. It, however, bases its treatment interventions on the Integral Traumatology™ approach. TSI has the sole rights in South Africa to use this trade mark and approach.
Integral Traumatology TM :
- A South African model
- A unique approach, and
- A world first traumatological development.
In addition it has assisted in the development of training and development courses covering virtually the entire spectrum of trauma (in accordance with the IITCI criteria and requirements). The trauma intervention model utilized is a South African initiated one and was developed largely by a Specialist Traumatologist Dr. Peter Jones of TSI. It has proven to be extremely successful and is being implemented both locally and abroad.
TSI is a multi-functional organisation and provides an array of services related to the field of trauma.
Based in Johannesburg South Africa, it is able to provide most of its services internationally either directly or through its various networks.
TSI constantly strives to be at the forefront of unfolding developments in the treatment of individuals who have suffered trauma in their lives. It believes strongly that a MULTI-DIMENSIONAL approach to such treatment is the only effective and economical way of truly providing a return to wellness for the traumatised individual.
To this end, it is committed to promoting the emergence of Traumatology as a unique and distinct health and social science, which also incorporates the relevant inputs from other sciences and approaches which will facilitate the recovery, physically; emotionally; socially; mentally and spiritually, of those who have been traumatised.
It believes that all of these aspects of the self must be treated holistically and cannot be fragmented successfully
Professional Standards
It must be emphasised that TSI provides professional trauma intervention by professionally trained and qualified personal. The personal are bound by the Ethical code of conduct of The South African Integrated Traumatological Council.
Of importance too, to clients is that TSI does not use volunteers in the provision of services. It believes, from an ethical and professional perspective that efficient and effective trauma treatment cannot be left to amateurs, no matter how well intentioned they may be. Unfortunately there has been a tendency in South Africa to consider the treatment of non-pathological trauma as less worthy of proper intervention than physical trauma.
